Dangerous Writing

Dangerous Writing

Writing is a profoundly powerful therapeutic tool for dealing with unresolved emotions and is one of the most effective ways to heal yourself from past trauma.

Writing teacher Tom Spanbauer teaches a method called Dangerous Writing..

Here are the Key Guidelines to Follow:

* Write about some unresolved aspect of your life.

* Use as much of a metaphor as you can.

* This therapeutic processing will be the thing that brings you back to working on it again and again...

* If nothing else, you will exhaust your emotional reaction to whatever that unresolved issue was.

* Once you're no longer emotionally reactive to it, the issue will magically disappear from your life.

* The story needs to be serving YOU first, or it will not serve anyone else.

This book is highly recommended for anyone that is even mildly interested in writing as an art form or as a tool for getting beyond the things that may haunt you from your past. Chuck is a deeply profound individual and he is extremely generous with the treasure trove of insights that he has painstakingly accumulated over a prolific career spanning across more than 3 decades.

"If you're going to work on something as long as a novel
it has to explore some unresolved aspect of you;
so that even if it never sells, never makes any money, never gets any attention, you still have a therapeutic benefit of fully exploring and exhausting that unresolved part of you."
