Creative Expression & The Artist's Journey

Creative Expression & The Artist's Journey

What is art?

It's like asking "what is money?"

Ask ten people and you'll probably get ten different answers.

How can such a seemingly simple question, on its face, be so full of complexity?

Everyone's personal experience dictates their definition.

One interpretation is that art is the expression of the emotional overflow produced by being; or the expression of the unresolved emotions that living in the human condition continuously generates without relent.

For many, the real difficulty rears its head when it comes time to interpret and synthesize those emotions. When you try to take them, and create something that has never existed before out of thin air by harnessing a feeling or an experience; or series of feelings and experiences.

When we don't have a go to cathartic outlet in our lives to alleviate emotional overflow through artistic expression, it's very common for problems and various tensions to arise within us that will inevitably obstruct our lives in some unforeseen way.

Discovering new ways to express yourself creatively is in no way a trivial pursuit, anyone attempting to convince you otherwise is simply ignorant to all this process has to offer.

The most important thing you need to know about art is that it can be whatever you need it to be.

You just have to allow the process of expressing yourself creatively to reveal to you what it is that you need to resolve within yourself; in order to evolve.
